Winners of the Men’s K-2 Senior 1000m

This award has been retired and is no longer awarded.

Paul Beachem and John Van Dyke were paddlers out of the Potomac Boat Club on the Potomac river in Washington DC.

The older of the pair, Paul Beachem, was a member of the 1968 Olympic in Mexico City, competing in the K-2 event. Four years later, John raced at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich as part of the K-4 1000m event.

Although they were never on the same Olympic team, John and Paul raced K-2 for many years in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s and won many medals together.
