Donald Dodge Memorial Award

Awarded to the winner of the Men’s K-1 Senior 1000m

The oldest individual award, first awarded in 1962 in memory of Donald Dodge who was K-1 Senior 1000 National Champion in 1961 and perished while training in May of 1962, on Lake Ontario.

The award was donated by his father, Ray Dodge who was the first distributor of Danish wood boats (Struer) in the United States. At the time of his death, Donald was a student in Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York studying for his degree.
