Chris Barlow Trophy

Awarded to club with the most points in the Men’s K-4 events.

Chris is a USA Canoe Kayak Olympian who competed in the 1992 Men’s K-4 1000 meters. Chris’ Olympic and National level participation in Canoe Kayak has led to his true passion for coaching young athletes. In 1996, Chris founded and became the head coach of the San Diego Canoe and Kayak Team (SDCKT). He continues to coach at local, regional, national and International levels.

Chris’ coaching contributions include:

  1. 2009 (Moscow) & 2011 (Brandenburg) Junior World Championships Men’s Coach
  2. 2010 USA Junior National Team Head Coach at Pan American Championships in Mexico City
  3. 2013 Olympics Hopes Regatta Head Coach and Team Leader

Chris’ dedication to the Canoe Kayak sport does not rest at the coaching level but also extends into the advancing, growing, and strengthening the USA Canoe Kayak organization. Chris has been a Director with the Sprint Coaches Association since its formation in 2007.

Chris is a certified “High Performance Level Two Coach” with the USA Canoe Kayak Coaching Education Program. Chris’ most recent accomplishment is establishing a partnership between SDCKT and Point Loma Nazarene University which will help develop paddling programs at the collegiate level.
